Non-Discrimination Policies

The following information is provided in response to 34 C.F.R. Part 106.8 of the 2020 Title IX Regulations, mandating notice of a non-discrimination policy and adoption and publication of grievance procedures that provide for the prompt and equitable resolution of student and employee complaints.

 

 

Non-Discrimination Statement

Midland ISD does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, gender, national origin, disability, age, or any other basis prohibited by law in providing education services, activities, and programs.

Sex Discrimination and Sexual Harassment Prohibited

Midland ISD does not and, under Title IX, is required not to discriminate on the basis of sex in its educational programs or activities. The requirement not to discriminate on the basis of sex extends to admission of students in its educational programs or activities and employment. Inquiries about the application of Title IX may be referred to the District’s Title IX Coordinator, the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights of the Department of Education, or both.

Midland ISD has designated and authorized the following employees to serve as its Title IX Coordinators to address concerns or questions regarding discrimination on the basis of sex, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, or gender-based harassment:

Any individual may report sex discrimination, including sexual harassment, at any time, including during non-business hours, by mail, phone, or email. During business hours, reports may also be made in person.

TITLE IX GRIEVANCE PROCESS

In accordance with Title IX and its implementing regulation, Midland ISD’s Board of Trustees adopted Board policies regarding responding to formal complaints of sexual harassment. Upon receiving an allegation of sex-based harassment, the Title IX Coordinator will promptly respond in accordance with board policies FFH and DIA. 

 

Formal and Informal Complaint Process

 

Inquiries about the application of Title IX may be referred to the district’s Title IX Coordinator, to the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights of the Department of Education, or both.
