Student Transfers
MISD TRANSFERS OVERVIEW
The transfer process is used by families who want to apply to a MISD neighborhood (zone) school that is not the school designated by the family’s address. Transfers are reviewed by MISD staff and approved if the criteria for the transfer is met and there is space available. Additionally, for a transfer to be approved, the student must have good attendance and clean discipline record.
All families with students on an existing approved transfer are considered a continuation and do not need to reapply each year if they are staying at the same school. The only time a new application is required is when the student is moving to junior high and then when they move to high school.

- Elementary K - 6th grade

- Students who have transportation challenges related to their neighborhood campuses may request a transfer due to transportation challenges. Students must be and remain in good standing to be eligible.
STUDENTS WHO RESIDE OUTSIDE OF THE MISD ATTENDANCE AREA
Students whose parents reside in a district other than Midland Independent School District may request a student transfer to attend Midland ISD by completing a separate "out of district" transfer application. The "out of district" application may be accessed at Apply Midland. The application process requires that parents provide a copy of the student's discipline report, attendance report, and grade report. Note that Midland ISD may choose not to accept students from other districts. Also, Midland ISD may charge tuition for students who reside outside Midland ISD. Midland ISD will not provide transportation.
TRANSPORTATION FOR APPROVED TRANSFERS
Transportation for all students who attend a campus on a transfer (whether in district or out of district) is the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
