- When will the application be available for Round 1?
- The application will be available at www.midlandisd.net/apply from November 11 - 22, 2024.
- Do I have to reapply if my student currently attends a School of Choice?
- No, you are no longer required to complete an Intent to Return for students to remain at a campus on a transfer.
- Do I have to reapply for my transfer?
- No, you are no longer required to complete an Intent to Return for students to remain at a campus on a transfer.
- Can I apply to ECHS through Apply Midland?
- Yes, you will be able to submit an application for the Early College program (Future 9th) through the Apply Midland system. The requirements for ECHS is an application and an interview by a College Admin Early College does admit students through a lottery process. Once your application has been processed the Early College administrators will contact you.
- Can I apply to Carver Center through Apply Midland?
- No, you will be able to submit an application for the Gifted and Talented program (Grades 2-12) through the GT website:https://www.midlandisd.net/gt . The requirements for Carver Center have not changed and students must be tested and identified as Gifted and Talented in order to be accepted to attend this campus. Carver Center does not admit students through a lottery process. Once your application has been processed, the Advanced Academics department will share more information about the testing process.
- Do I have to use Apply Midland to attend my neighborhood school?
- No, only students who are applying to a School of Choice or for a transfer to a campus OTHER than their neighborhood school need to submit an application through the Apply Midland system.
- Can I submit an application to make a change in January?
- Yes, the application window will be from November 11 - 22, 2024.
- Can I apply for a Pre-K seat?
- The Apply Midland system is currently accepting applications for Pre-K MISD to IDEA Travis, Milam, Sam Houston Collegiate Prep and Midland College campuses. Future pre-k students will not be able to apply until April 1. Please contact the Student Services office at 432-240-1520 or the respective campus for more information.
- Which schools are included on the application?
- Families will be able to submit the following types of applications on Apply Midland:
- Bowie Fine Arts Academy
- Pease Communications & Technology
- Ben Milam International Academy
- Lamar Elementary
- Pre-K at Midland College
- Sam Houston Collegiate Preparatory Elementary
- 6th Grade AVID at San Jacinto
- Young Women’s Leadership Academy
- Early College High School (New)
- IDEA Travis
- Notice of Intent to Return to students attending a Magnet.
- New Applications to Schools of Choice
- Applications for Transfer to another MISD campus
- Families will be able to submit the following types of applications on Apply Midland:

- Yes, all schools will have the same timeline with the exception of the Gifted and Talented program. The gifted and talented application.
- Round 1 Applications for choice schools and transfer requests will be open November 11 - 22.
- After the initial application round closes, a second application round will open March 17 - 28, 2025.

- Who should fill out an application?

- The parent/guardian of the student should complete and submit the application along with their student, in case there are additional questions for the student to answer.

- If I submit my application on the first day it is open during round 1 will I have a better chance of getting a preferred school?
- No, all student applications during round 1 will be processed at the same time. Applications received on the first day of the application window and applications submitted at the end of the application window will be processed at the same time.

- If I submit my application on the first day of round 2 will I have a better chance of getting a preferred school?

- Yes, applications submitted during the second round will be considered on a rolling basis so they will be processed as they are received.

- Each school has different requirements regarding transportation services. Please review the information on the School Finder (www.midlandisd.net/apply) for details about whether a school provides transportation services to students

- My family moved since completing our application and accepting an offer. The school we selected is now too far away. What should we do?

- After March 1, 2024, families will be able to see all schools with available seats. You will need to submit a formal transfer request with Apply Midland to gain access to a new seat.

- What if I change my mind about applying?
- If you would like to make any changes to your student’s application, please visit www.midlandisd.net/apply and click on the “Take Action” button. From there, you will login to the Apply Midland system using your Apply Midland username and password. Click on “Edit Application” and submit your changes. Any desired changes must be made by 5 pm on August 1st..
- My child receives special education services. Who can I call with questions?
- Please call the MISD Special Services Department at 432-240-1401 for any questions regarding special education services
- My child receives English Language Learner Services. Who can I call with questions?

- What factors impact my child’s priority to the school we selected?
- A range of factors is taken into consideration regarding a student’s priority for a selected school. These factors include:

- Sibling Preference: Priority given to students who are applying to a school that a sibling attends or was recently accepted to
- Zone Preference: Preference given to students who are applying from a particular geographical zone in order to ensure that a school equally represents all-district geographic zones
- Staff Preference: Preference given to students who are applying to a school where a parent/guardian is an employee
- In addition to these preferences, individual schools may also have additional priorities that they consider. These policies are fully outlined in the Apply Midland Policy Document found here

- How does the choice process work?

- The process aims to ensure that students receive an offer to preferred schools while taking into account the admissions criteria for each campus
- Families apply to school options their student is interested in. Each school follows a priority structure to determine which applicants should be considered in what order. The system then runs a random lottery for each school. Students then receive multiple offers or are placed on waitlists for each school they selected. - December 16 - 20, 2024 and April 7 - 11, 2025. You will get an email when they are ready to view.
- I have 5 days to make a choice about my Apply Midland options but I have not heard back about if my student can get into a Gifted and talented program. What should I do?

- Accept an Apply Midland offer then decline later if you choose to send your student to an alternate program.

- What is the process for applying for a transfer for Fall?

- What are the requirements for a transfer?

- Transfer applications are reviewed on a case by case basis and a determination is made based on the number of the situation and number of seats available.
- Transfer applications are based on the following cases:
- The student is a child of a district employee
- Continuation currently on the campus and may want to stay
- Transfer from a PEG Campus
- Transfer for placement at a campus with a sibling requiring special education services
- Transfer for safety reasons
- Transfer for transportation reasons
- Transfer for placement at a campus that a sibling attends
- Out of District Transfer
- Other

- How do I apply for a transfer for the current school year?
- Current year transfers will only be available for request from November 11 - 22, 2024
- What is the process for applying for a transfer for Fall?
Waitlist
- What is a waitlist?
- A waitlist is a process campuses use when there are more applications to the campus than seats available
- When a campus reaches capacity, the online application system adds applicants to a “waitlist” and notifies the family a seat becomes available at the campus
- How do waitlists work?
- Students are admitted to the school from the waitlist when there is space at a campus
- If my student is on a school’s waitlist when will I hear if he or she will be offered a seat?
- The Apply Midland team will send you an email notifying you if you receive a seat via the waitlist.
- It’s important to remember that even if a student is on the waitlist they may not receive an offer for a seat
- Does the waitlist expire?
- Yes, the waitlist for magnet schools and schools of choice expire the last Friday in October. If you are interested in attending a school you were waitlisted, you will need to submit an application for the following school year.
