ECHS named among Best High Schools

Campus recognized by U.S. News and World Report

September 5, 2023 — Midland ISD is thrilled to announce that Early College High School at Midland College has been recognized as one of the Best High Schools according to the U.S. News and World Report.

The rankings show ECHS was ranked No. 141 this year out of more than two-thousand high schools across Texas. The campus once again ranked as the No. 1 public high school in the Midland metropolitan area.

Highlights include a 100% graduation rate, 100% passage of all subjects on the STAAR, and 96% meets grade level on STAAR testing.

The U.S. News rankings are a testament to the school's outstanding academic programs, faculty, and achievements of its students. The school's collaboration with Midland College has resulted in continuous achievements that are recognized locally and nationally.

"We are thrilled and honored to receive these prestigious rankings from U.S. News," said ECHS Principal Blanca Golson. "Our dedicated educators, motivated students, and supportive community should all celebrate this distinction. We are committed to providing an educational experience that prepares students for success in higher education and beyond."

This recognition comes on the heels of the campus being named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education last year.

ECHS is a four-year high school in partnership with Midland College. Students have the opportunity to graduate high school with an associate degree and enter college ready for a bachelor's degree program. There is no cost to attend. For more information, visit midlandisd.net/echs.
