Honor marks 2nd time Angie Aron has been named Region 18's best elementary principal

March 22, 2023 — Jones Elementary School Principal Angie Aron has been named TEPSAN of the Year by the Texas Elementary School Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA).

This is the second time Aron has been named TEPSAN of the Year for Region 18. Her first honor came in 2018 when she was principal at Burnet Elementary.

"This is such a great honor," Aron said. "We have so many worthy principals in Region 18, and to be chosen a second time as the region's top elementary principal is surreal."

Aron has been a principal for nearly two decades. When asked about what it takes to be successful in this role, she said it comes down to surrounding yourself with a great team and constantly learning.

"When you stop learning, you stop thriving," Aron said. "I'm constantly learning myself, and I strive to maintain a vision focused on keeping everyone at Jones Elementary moving forward. Students, teachers, staff, parents and the community: We all succeed together."

Members from 20 regions across Texas honor their colleagues annually for outstanding service to the association. Award recipients must be committed to advancing principalship and the association, as well as serving as a voice for all Texas students.

"On behalf of MISD, we are incredibly proud of the work Angie has done at Jones Elementary," MISD Superintendent Stephanie Howard said. "To be recognized by her peers at TEPSAN of the Year is not only a testament to her talent as a campus leader, but her selfless sacrifice in ensuring the students at Jones receive a great education."

Aron and other winners will be honored in June at an award ceremony in Round Rock.
