Community Encouraged to Take Superintendent Search Survey

Input will be Used as Part of Candidate Evaluation Process

October 4, 2022 — Midland ISD's search for its next superintendent is underway, and the community is encouraged to share their feedback by taking a survey that will help in the search and hiring process.


The Midland ISD board of trustees has selected Dr. Ann Dixon with Walsh Gallegos to conduct the superintendent search process. Applications will be accepted through Nov. 3, and the community survey will close the following day. 


Search & Hiring Process Timeline

What follows is a timeline for the superintendent search and hiring process. Dates are subject to change. More information is available on the district website.

Sept. 28

Board planning session to finalize the projected timeline, develop an applicant profile and discuss background checking.

Oct. 3

Application window opens.

Oct. 4

Online community feedback survey window opens. (Available here:

Nov. 3

Application window closes at 5 p.m.

Nov. 4

Online community feedback window closes.

Nov. 8

Board election. Canvassing runs Nov. 11-22.

Nov. 16

The board will:

  • Review community input
  • Review applications
  • Select those to interview
  • Discuss superintendent contract terms
  • Finalize interview questions
  • Discuss background check information

Nov. 17-27

Consultant will conduct the vetting process of selected interviewees.

Nov. 28-30

First round of interviews takes place. Top two to three candidates will be selected for second-round interviews.

Dec. 5-7

Second round of interviews takes place.

Dec. 28

Earliest date to vote to hire a new superintendent (at least 21 days after naming a finalist). The vote may take place at a later date if the board desires.

Jan. 3, 2023


Superintendent reports to the district.
