Info Families Need to Know Before the First Day of School

Bus Routes, Lunches, Enrollment Among Key Topics for Parents

August 4, 2022 — The first day of school is almost here!

 

Midland ISD students will head back to campus to start the 2022-23 school year on Monday, Aug. 8, 2022. Here is information that every family should know to help them start off successfully:

 

SCHOOL HOURS AND CALENDAR

 

All elementary school hours are 7:45 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the following exceptions:

  • IDEA Travis: 7:45 a.m.-3:45 p.m.; classes have already started at this campus.
  • Pre-K Academy at Midland College: 8 a.m.-3:15 p.m.; classes begin Wednesday, Aug. 10. 
  • Sam Houston Collegiate Preparatory Elementary: 8 a.m.-4 p.m.; classes have already started at this campus.

 

All secondary school hours are 8:40 a.m.-4 p.m., with the following exception:

  • Early College High School: 7:55 a.m.-3:45 p.m.

ENROLLMENT

 

Families that have not yet enrolled for the new school year should do so at midlandisd.net/enroll. Enrollment in Skyward is required for all new and returning families. 

 

Parents should contact their campus or email

familyaccesshelp@midlandisd.net if they need assistance. Families can also visit campuses this Saturday, Aug. 6, to complete enrollment.

FREE OR REDUCED LUNCH

 

Eligible families can receive free or reduced lunch for their student. For more information or to apply, visit midlandisd.net/meals. 
 

FINDING THE RIGHT BUS

 

Identifying proper school buses has changed this year. For parents sending their children to school by bus, it's important to check the route number, located near the bus door, and not the bus number.

MEET THE TEACHER DAY

 

Elementary schools will host Meet the Teacher Day on Saturday, Aug. 6. Check with your campus for more information.
 

SCHOOL SUPPLIES & TAX-FREE WEEKEND

 

Need to buy school supplies? Check with your campus to find out what your student will need. Also, Aug. 5-7 is tax-free weekend in Texas. Visit the comptroller's website to find out which items qualify.
