January 7, 2021 — MIdland ISD is excited to announce its first School Choice Fair will be held virtually on Thursday, January 14. The School Choice Fair will give parents the opportunity to explore options for the next school year.
"Holding the fair virtually makes it safer and easier for parents to learn about their options," said Student Services Executive Director Jill McCall. "This way, they can visit several schools in a short time without leaving their home."
Interested parents can visit midlandisd.net/schoolchoicefair ahead of the event for more information. The site includes links to "rooms" assigned for each School of Choice participating in the fair. Times will be assigned for each room when parents can join a live chat with a campus administrator and ask questions about the school.
Campuses participating include all magnet and partnership schools (including the Pre-K Academy and Carver Center), as well as General Franks Elementary and Early College High School.
The Virtual School Choice Fair coincides with the application window now open for Apply Midland. By visiting midlandisd.net/apply, parents can learn about any MISD campus, apply for a School of Choice, or request a transfer. The application window runs through January 29. Apply Midland also connects parents with Skyward Family Access for registration, which begins in April.
Once all applications have been received, a lottery system will select from the applicant pool and automatically inform parents once school assignments have been made. Families will receive offers from schools in March.
Following the release of initial offers, families who apply during the second application window will receive offers on a rolling basis. For additional information and access to the application, please visit midlandisd.net/apply or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
