MISD Supporting Pre-K Enrollment
August 24, 2020 — As we get closer to welcoming our students back to campus, Midland ISD is preparing to help parents of pre-K students enroll.
Parents of incoming pre-K students at any MISD campus may apply during this time. This special support will be available at De Zavala Elementary (705 N. Lee St.) from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for two weeks beginning August 26. It's important that parents make an appointment before arriving. Appointments can be made by calling 432-240-1530.
Parents will have access to a computer and internet, as well as assistance from members of the early education team who can assist with the application process.
"Pre-K is an important part of a child's development for many families," said Special Services Executive Director Jennifer Warren. "We know that COVID has been a trying time and that's why we want to make sure that parents have the resources they need to get their students enrolled."
When coming to enroll their students, parents should have:
- Child's birth certificate
- Child's social security card
- Child's immunization records
- Proof of residence (lease agreement, utility bill, or if not in parent's name, an affidavit from student services)
- Current TANF, Food Stamps or Medicaid award letter OR last two months income statements from everyone working in the household.
While using the computers, parents are also encouraged to apply for the free/reduced-price lunch program.
