Midland ISD Official Tests Positive for COVID-19

June 25, 2020 — A Midland ISD official has self-identified as testing positive for COVID-19.

This individual was last present at a district facility on June 22 at the Bowie Fine Arts Academy during the regularly scheduled board meeting. Anyone who was in close contact with this individual has been notified of the need to self-quarantine and follow up with their healthcare provider. Based on the information that we have gathered, it has been determined that the end of the 14-day incubation period for anyone possibly exposed is July 7.

Multiple prevention measures were in place during the MISD board meeting including physical distancing, hand hygiene and mask usage. Out of an abundance of caution, the district advises each individual who attended the June 22 board meeting to monitor their health and contact their primary care physician or call 68-NURSE if they develop symptoms or have questions about testing.

The Bowie Fine Arts Academy auditorium will be closed for the next two weeks, and deep cleaning and disinfecting will take place to minimize any further risk.

Midland ISD closed all district buildings in March in response to COVID-19 and instituted remote learning for students and remote work for most staff.

As we work together to protect our community, MISD will continue to follow CDC guidelines and recommendations to help minimize transmission risk. We thank the community for their help in this endeavor.
