Six MISD Campuses named "School of Excellence"
May 7, 2020 — Six Midland ISD schools have been named "Imagine Nation School of Excellence" by Imagine Learning for their exceptional work with Imagine Math in 2019-20.
Scharbauer Elementary and Pease Communications and Technology Academy were awarded for their work in the PK-2 division, while Carver Center, Long Elementary, Rusk Elementary, and Washington STEM Academy were recognized for grades 3-6.
MISD Elementary Math Director Wendy Devault delivered the news to principals of the winning schools. "Congratulations for earning this prestigious honor," Devault said. "We appreciate your hard work in guiding your teachers, students, and parents towards achieving these goals."
The winning schools were recognized for their work with Imagine Math, a web-based program that caters lessons to support students at their own pace, and emphasizes problem-solving and conceptual understanding.
"We began using computer-based programs to support Tier 1 instruction several years ago," said Jill Rivera, Executive Director of Professional Development. "Now that online learning has become part of our new reality, it's great for these campuses, teachers, and families to receive recognition for students' work in these areas. We are very proud of all involved!”
More than 16,000 schools nationwide participate in Imagine Learning Programs, but fewer than 1% (134 for 2019-20) receive the School of Excellence distinction. Winning campuses are selected for demonstrating outstanding usage, dedication, and implementation of the programs throughout the year.
The winning schools will each receive an Imagine Nation School of Excellence banner to display on campus.
