Trustee Trischitti donates book collection to YWLA
October 31, 2019 — Young Women's Leadership Academy (YWLA) was the recipient Tuesday, Oct. 29, of a collection of nearly 100 middle-grade and young-adult books donated by Midland ISD Trustee John Trischitti III.
YWLA opened this year but lacks a library. Trischitti had many books from his tenure as Director of the Midland County Public Libraries. "I knew this donation would be a perfect fit," he said. "I was looking for a place to donate these books when I was reminded by Anita Gamertsfelder, director of the Midland ISD Education Foundation, that YWLA doesn't have a library of its own."
"We are so thrilled to accept this book donation from Mr. Trischitti," said Jennifer Seybert, Principal of YWLA. "As our school grows, so does our need for books, and Mr. Trischitti answered the call. We very much appreciate his generosity!"
In addition to the book donation, Trischitti also offered a challenge grant of $250 for the students to match. "If they raise $250 for books, I'll match it," Trischitti said. "I want our YWLA students to be invested in the cultivation of further reading materials and to get the books they are interested in and want to read."
