Midland ISD receives "clean" audit
MIDLAND ISD RECEIVES "CLEAN" AUDIT
Audit opinion says district properly discloses its financial information
October 23, 2019 — The Midland ISD School Board of Trustees at its monthly meeting Tuesday accepted the district's financial audit report.
Audit firm EideBailly of Abilene has given Midland ISD's financials a "clean" audit. This is the highest level an audited entity can receive. The firm issued an "unmodified opinion," which means Midland ISD properly discloses its financial information. The audit showed Midland ISD had no material weaknesses, no significant deficiencies and no instances of noncompliance in its financial reporting and compliance. Midland ISD follows all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
The clean audit comes on the heels of Midland ISD's "A" rating from the Texas Education Agency's Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST). Midland ISD received a perfect score of 100 points for 2018-19, the most recent data available.
Midland ISD also holds a AAA bond rating from S&P Global and an Aa2 bond rating from Moody's Investment Service Inc. The S&P rating indicates that bonds are of the highest quality and offer the lowest degree of investment risk. Issuers are considered extremely stable and dependable.
"I'm very excited by the progress we've made over the past two years," said Darla Moss, Chief Financial Officer. "We have a great staff. They work tirelessly to ensure our district financials are compliant and transparent, and they ensure that our campuses receive what they need to serve our students."
