Burnet Elementary Joins No Excuses University Network

May 14, 2019 — Midland ISD is excited to announce Burnet Elementary has achieved a transformational milestone. Principal Angie Aron and her staff recently learned Burnet has been accepted into the No Excuses University Network of Schools.
No Excuses University (NEU) is a network that fosters professional development to help pave the way for all students to attend college. To qualify for the NEU network, a school must meet rigorous criteria and implement six exceptional systems that begin as early as pre-kindergarten. The six systems are:
  • Exhibit a Culture of Universal Achievement;
  • Collaboration;
  • Standards Alignment;
  • Assessment;
  • Data Management; and
  • Meaningful Student Intervention.
“I am thrilled that Burnet has been accepted as an NEU campus,” Aron said. “We call Burnet the ‘Dream Center,’ and we believe all students who dream to go to college must have an open door to achieving this goal. Being an NEU campus will equip our students with the tools to propel them to greatness.”
Burnet is one of only 250 schools nationwide that has achieved this distinction and is the second NEU campus in the school district. Milam Elementary became an NEU campus in November 2018.
“I’m so proud of Principal Aron and her staff for this remarkable achievement,” said Diane Lopez, Executive Director of Elementary Education. “The six exceptional systems within the NEU framework will empower students to achieve their goals and earn their success.”
