Parent Information Letter

August-2018-19

Dear Goddard, Junior High Raider Families:  This letter is to inform you about our 2018-19 Boys Athletic Programs.  Raider Athletics is something we take great pride in here at Goddard Junior High School. We offer a wide variety of athletic opportunities for our students. Our school competes in the Midland-Odessa Conference-which is a league of highly competitive teams from the Midland-Odessa area.

JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS: (GRADES 7-8) We strive for a balance of fielding competitive athletic teams that will prepare our athletes to compete in High School sports and beyond, all while offering opportunities for all Raiders to participate and become involved.  Our athletic programs are for students in grades 7 and 8 and will compete to be the best that they can be in the Midland-Odessa Conference and make Goddard Junior High School proud. Sports we currently offer are Football, Cross Country, Basketball, Track and Field, Soccer, Tennis and Swimming.

PURPOSE:  The purpose of Athletics is to introduce our students to the sports that they will be participating in at the Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior High Schools in the Midland ISD School District. Our athletes will take pride in learning the rules, sportsmanship, work ethic, commitment, conditioning, fundamentals and prepare to be future All-Stars!

MEDICAL/DOCTOR FORMS NEEDED: All athletes must fill out the Medical Packet and return the packet to Goddard Junior High front office or coaching staff before they can be on a team.  If the medical forms/physical packet is not on file, we cannot allow students to be on teams. To access the Medical Forms, please go to Midland ISD Website:  https://www.midlandisd.net/Page/31760 and click on Departments, Athletics, Physical Packet and then Athletic Physical Packet to print out your copies or contact Derek.weller@midlandisd.net or any of the Boys Coaching Staff below for us to email you a packet.

COACHES:  Our Athletic Department will communicate and provide all relevant information, documentation and forms at the beginning of each sport season and will answer any of your questions throughout the year.  The boys coaching staff can be reached via email at the contact information below.

We are committed to having top-notch coaches that are well versed in the sport in which they are coaching and will continue to provide professional development in the areas they will coach.  Our athletes will be reminded that they are student-athletes and the word “student” comes first. They will carry themselves with Honor, Responsibility and Respect always while representing Goddard Junior High School and the Midland ISD School District.

BOOSTER CLUB: Finally, we are thankful to have the Raider Athletic Booster Club, supporting our athletics programs.  If you are a parent of a Raider Athlete, we encourage you to get involved and join our Booster Club.  Our Booster Club does amazing things for our Raider athletes. Please feel free to contact us to get involved with the Raider Athletic Booster Club.  We are at your service and look forward to hearing from you.

Respectfully yours,
