At Pease Communications & Technology Academy, academic and emotional growth are tied in with engagement and ownership by students, parents, community members, faculty, and staff as they feel valued and empowered at school. Our responsibility is to ensure that each student receives a top quality education tailored to their specific needs and based on essential standards while integrating specialized communications and technology skills. We will hold ourselves and our students accountable for their progress and learning. Along with teaching inquiry, empathy, and reflection, we will nurture the development of values such as respect, responsibility, diligence, integrity, kindness, and persistence. Pease Communications & Technology Academy Tigers will feel safe, confident, and excited about their learning because they will know that every adult on our staff cares about them and is passionate about their education and growth.

MISD hires Emergency Management Coordinator
This new position will oversee all administrative aspects of student and campus safety, including crisis situations, natural disasters or any other emergencies that may arise.

STAAR results show student progress
Preliminary results from Spring 2022 STAAR testing show positive growth for Midland ISD students. Testing was administered in grades 3-8 in the areas of reading, math, social studies and science.

Midland ISD Closer to Cleaner Air on Campuses
Midland ISD is upgrading its heating, cooling and air purification systems. The district plans to begin replacing HVAC systems before the start of the next school year, thanks in large part to a federal grant.

MISD named District of the Year for work with Bilingual students
“It is truly an honor to be recognized as ‘District of the Year’ by Summit K12,” said Lety Amalla, Executive Director of Student Programs. “This award affirms the commitment we have made to support emergent bilingual students across our district, and the gains our students have made is a testament to the investment our teachers and partners have made to education.”

MISD to install LED lighting district-wide
The Midland ISD Board of Trustees has given the green light to new, cost-saving LED lighting throughout the district. The project will include retrofitting all existing fluorescent and incandescent lighting both inside and outside.

MISD Accepted Into Teacher Incentive Allotment Program
Midland ISD has received initial approval to participate in the state's Teacher Incentive Allotment program, which will give teachers the opportunity to earn extra, performance-based pay if they meet certain academic goals.

MISD Family Support Center Receives $2,000 Grant
The Midland ISD Family Support Center has received a $2,000 grant that will help the center continue supporting students and families in need. The money provided by Superior HealthPlan will fund hygiene kits that contain essential items such as laundry detergent, soap, shampoo, and deodorant.

Three Midland ISD elementary schools are leading the way, literally, when it comes to a popular fitness program. Pease Communications Academy, Ben Milam International Academy, and Yarbrough Elementary are ranked No. 1, 2, and 3 nationally, according to Marathon Kids.

Board approves 2021-22 Academic Calendar
The new calendar includes two weeks of "intersession," which is a chance for students who are falling behind to receive extra help. The two weeks of intersession are the weeks of October 18 and February 7.

Schools Honored by Imagine Learning
Five MISD elementary schools were named "Imagine Nation School of Excellence" for their work with Imagine Math. More than 16,000 schools participate in the program, and less than 1% received the distinction.
