Each of these semi-finalists completed a rigorous application process, which included PSAT or National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test results, academic record, community service, leadership, employment, and awards received. National Merit semi-finalists are among the top academic performers in the nation and now have the opportunity to compete for National Merit Scholarships valued at nearly $26 million.
The National Merit Scholarship Program recognizes less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, making this achievement a significant achievement.
"This recognition is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and academic excellence of our students, their families, and their schools," said Dr. Amanda Melchor, Executive Director of Secondary Teaching and Learning. "We are incredibly proud of Jerry, Caleb, and Sanjana."
MISD will recognize these semi-finalists at the October Board of Trustees meeting. Finalists will be announced in February 2025, with scholarship winners to follow in the spring.
