Nominations now open for MISD gifted programming

Nomination process lasts through October

September 30, 2024 — The nomination process for Midland ISD student placement in Gifted and Talented (G/T) services from kindergarten through grade 12, including Carver Center, is now open.

Parent Referral Forms are open to students currently in grades K-11 and can be submitted throughout the month of October. All public, private, charter, and home school students residing in the MISD attendance area are invited to apply. The form can be accessed on the MISD G/T & Advanced Academics webpage through October 31. Late forms will not be accepted, so be sure to apply this month.

To further assist parents in understanding the process and the benefits of G/T programs, MISD will offer information sessions throughout October.

Parent Awareness Sessions:

Meetings will be held at Midland ISD Central Office, located at 615 W. Missouri Ave.

  • Tuesday, October 1: 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, October 8: 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, October 9: 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
  • Friday, October 18:11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. 
  • Tuesday, October 22: 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, October 22:- 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Every nominated student will be screened to determine their eligibility for placement in G/T programming. More information regarding the G/T testing schedule will be sent in November. Results of the assessments will be distributed in late February for elementary and early March for secondary, ensuring transparency and timely communication with families.
