January 27, 2025 – Fifth and sixth graders from Fannin Elementary School are making a meaningful impact in the community through their recent volunteer efforts at the Midland Soup Kitchen Ministry. The students are members of the school’s Mighty Mustang Leadership which exemplifies the values of academic excellence, responsibility, and positive character.
Mighty Mustang Leadership, designed to cultivate future leaders, requires students to maintain good grades, demonstrate responsibility, and serve as role models for their peers. By volunteering at the Midland Soup Kitchen Ministry these young leaders have embraced the program’s core values: giving back to the community while learning the importance of service.
“Our students’ dedication, compassion, and hard work have made a meaningful difference in our community,” said April Madrid, Counselor at Fannin Elementary School. “We are so proud of these students for embodying true leadership and kindness!”
During their time at the soup kitchen students assisted with serving food, handing out bread, and engaging with community members in need. Their efforts underscore the district’s commitment to developing well-rounded students who contribute positively in and out of the classroom.
The district relies on many community partners to support the mission of MISD and, in turn, is proud to support programs like this which inspire students to lead with integrity and compassion.
