Midland ISD Celebrates 387 TIA Designated Teachers with More Than $3.8 Million in Payouts

More than 60 teachers earn over $100,000 annually through strategic compensation and TIA earnings

May 8, 2026 — Midland ISD celebrated another cohort of Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) designated teachers during its districtwide Big Check Bus Tour, recognizing educators for their outstanding impact on student learning and achievement.

District leaders traveled throughout Midland ISD delivering oversized checks, celebrating teachers who earned TIA designations through the state’s strategic compensation program.

Midland ISD now has 387 TIA designated teachers, resulting in $3,833,132 in payouts to educators across the district. Approximately 60 Midland ISD teachers are now earning over $100,000 annually through a combination of district compensation and TIA earnings.

The Teacher Incentive Allotment, established by the Texas Education Agency, is designed to reward highly effective teachers who demonstrate strong instructional practices and measurable student growth. Teachers may earn Recognized, Exemplary, or Master designations through locally developed designation systems approved by the state.

“Our teachers are doing extraordinary work in classrooms throughout Midland ISD, and this recognition celebrates the impact they are making on students every single day,” said Dr. Stephanie Howard, Midland ISD Superintendent. “We are committed to ensuring Midland ISD is a place where great teachers are recognized, supported, and rewarded for excellence. This work is helping us recruit and retain outstanding educators while improving student outcomes.”

Campuses celebrated TIA designated teachers with surprise presentations, applause from staff and students, and recognition from district leaders. The celebrations highlighted Midland ISD’s continued investment in strategic compensation and educator development.

Midland ISD has continued to expand its local TIA system to provide more teachers with opportunities to earn designations and increased compensation based on their impact in the classroom. The district’s strategic compensation efforts are aligned to broader goals focused on teacher retention, instructional excellence, and student success.

“We will continue expanding our strategic compensation model to ensure we take full advantage of funding available from the state to invest in excellence,” said Dr. Howard.

The district believes investing in educators is one of the most important ways to improve outcomes for students and strengthen schools across the community.
