MHS National Merit Finalist and UT Dallas Scholarship Recipient

Midland High School Caleb Brown, class of 2025 graduate

June 4, 2025 – Midland High School is proud to announce that Caleb Brown, a distinguished member of the Class of 2025, has been awarded the National Merit University of Texas at Dallas Scholarship.

Caleb was among the top high school juniors nationwide who entered the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2023 PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test). Out of more than 1.3 million entrants, over 16,000 students advanced to the Semifinalist level, representing less than one percent of all U.S. high school seniors.

To become a Finalist, Caleb submitted a rigorous scholarship application, which included a personal essay, outstanding academic achievements, strong SAT scores, and a record of leadership and extracurricular involvement. He also received a high recommendation from school officials.

The National Merit University of Texas at Dallas Scholarship is one of the highly competitive awards funded through partnerships between the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) and college sponsors. Each year, approximately 7,500 students are selected as Merit Scholarship recipients from a pool of more than 15,000 Finalists.

The National Merit Scholarship Program, established in 1955, aims to recognize and support the academic potential of high-achieving students across the country.

Midland ISD congratulates Caleb Brown on this remarkable achievement and wishes him continued success in his academic journey as he studies Criminology at UT Dallas.
