PLEDGE LEADER

The meeting opened with pledges of allegiance led by June Madrid, David Ferrales, and Micah Flores from Henderson Elementary School.

DISTRICT REPORTS

BOND 2023 UPDATE

Package 02 – New High Schools:

Design is 100% complete for both campuses. Midland High School construction is approximately 17% complete and remains on schedule, with utilities and sitework continuing. Energy Transfer began pipeline relocation work this week at the New Midland High School site as scheduled and is coordinating closely with Lee Lewis to ensure both projects continue to move forward smoothly. Based on this week’s project status update, Lee Lewis has confirmed the relocation work is not impacting the overall MHS project schedule. A topping-out ceremony is planned for July.

Midland Lee High School construction is approximately 31% complete and ahead of schedule, with glass installation underway and a topping out ceremony planned for June. Utility work at Avalon & Thomason is scheduled for completion by June. Avalon & Thomason road bids went to the Board for the May monthly Board meeting, and the Wadley Road expansion remains in design.

Package 04 – Middle School Renovations (Goddard MS & Midland MS):

Design is 100% complete, with construction approximately 15.7% complete. Construction is underway at both campuses, with classroom steel framing now going up. Initial phases include new classrooms, a new administration area, and new parking areas, while future phases will focus on kitchen renovations and existing classroom renovations. The project is anticipated to be completed in December 2027.

FINANCIAL AND BUDGET PREPARATION FOR 2026-2027 UPDATE #4

The district presented an overview of the progress of the budget preparation process.

SENATE BILL 546 AND SEAT BELT REPORTING REQUIREMENTS

The district provided a report on Senate Bill 546 reporting requirements.

REPORT ON END OF YEAR DATA

Trustees heard a report on End of Year data in accordance with Board Policy.

LONG-TERM STRATEGIC PLAN RELATED TO SPECIAL EDUCATION

Trustees were presented with an update over the long-term strategic plan for Special Education.

STRATEGIC PLAN QUARTERLY UPDATE

The quarterly informational report provided details regarding the Strategic Planning Oversight Committee, known as SPOC. This report provided an update on initiatives from both the Student Experience Pillar and Grow and Develop Staff Pillar of the Midland ISD Strategic Plan.

BUDGET AMENDMENT #10

The Board of Trustees voted to approve the Budget Amendment #10, as presented.

SALE OF PROPERTY LOCATED AT THE CORNER OF CHOLLA ROAD AND SOUTH COUNTY ROAD 1235

The Board of Trustees voted to approve to initiate the sale of property located at the corner of Cholla Road and South County Road 1235.

RFP #26-72 CNS CAFETERIA TABLES

The Board voted to approve RFP #26-72 CNS Cafeteria Tables, as presented.

RFP #26-87 CNS KITCHEN EQUIPMENT

Trustees voted to approve RFP #26-87 CNS Kitchen Equipment, as presented.

RFP #26-65 AVALON AND THOMASON DRIVE EXTENSIONS

The Board voted to approve a bid for roadway improvements related to the development of public infrastructure near the new Midland Lee High School, as presented.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: SOCIAL STUDIES K-11, GEOMETRY, AND ALGEBRA II

The Board of Trustees voted to approve instructional materials for Social Studies K-11, Geometry, and Algebra II, as presented.

DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN

Trustees voted to approve the 2026-27 District Improvement Plan, as presented.

2026-2027 MIDLAND ISD COMPENSATION PLAN

The Board of Trustees did not approve the 2026-27 Compensation Manual, as presented.

CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING AD HOC COMMITTEE

The Board of Trustees voted to establish an Ad Hoc Committee for the development of School Board operating procedures.
