  • LHS teacher named finalist for H-E-B Award

    LHS Life Skills teacher Kathleen Leeper has been named a finalist for H-E-B's Excellence in Education award for Leadership. The award comes with $1,000 for her and additional $1,000 for her campus.

  • Jones Elementary's Angie Aron earns Principal of the Year honors

    Jones Elementary School Principal Angie Aron has been named TEPSAN of the Year by the Texas Elementary School Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA). This is the second time Aron has been named TEPSAN of the Year for Region 18. Her first honor came in 2018 when she was principal at Burnet Elementary.

    Energy Efficiency Project now underway

    While you were on Spring Break, we were busy keeping our campuses ready for learning! During the break, crews installed a new cooling tower at Goddard Junior High! This is part of MISD's Energy Efficiency Project which is upgrading our HVAC systems district wide to make sure they keep students and teachers comfortable and save the district on energy costs for years to come!

    These three MHS students will soon have their science experiment tested by astronauts in space! The trio took part in the Go For Launch science program which allows students to create their own experiments while learning about space!

    The MHS football program, which was recently selected for a Governor's Volunteer Award by the Texas Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service! Football players from 7th - 12th grades have participated in a variety of volunteering opportunities over the past year to serve the people of Midland!

  • MISD raises pay for substitute teachers

    Midland ISD has increased the daily rate of pay for substitute teachers. The raise comes as part of the recent update to the district's Compensation Manual, which was approved by the Board of Trustees at September's meeting.

  • MISD accepting Gifted/Talented applications for all grades

    MISD has streamlined the process to make it easier for parents to nominate their students for enrollment in Carver Center, or inclusion in secondary programs for students that have been identified as gifted and talented (G/T). This year, applications can be submitted for students for all grades during the month of October.

    Early College High School at Midland College has been named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. This distinction places ECHS@MC among the best high schools in the nation and marks it as a model of effective school practices for state and district educators and other schools throughout the U.S.
