    Fine Arts Director receives state honor

    MISD Fine Arts Director Deb Shaw was recently named Administrator of the Year at Texas Thespians State Festival! Ms. Shaw has overseen the growth and success of fine arts departments across the district in her 18+ years leading the department. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

  • 4 MISD Seniors earn Commended Honors

    Midland ISD is excited to recognize four exceptional students who have received recognition from the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. Amulya Ganta, Fiona Li, and Ryland Matis from Legacy High School, and Nnenne Nnanna from Early College High School at MC were each named Commended Students by this nationally-recognized academic program.

    JROTC adds high-end flight simulator to arsenal

    Midland ISD's Air Force Junior ROTC program has purchased a state-of-the-art flight simulator after winning a $10,000 grant from the Midland Education Foundation. This simulator will be used as a part of aerospace science STEM courses currently offered to more than 120 JROTC students across four MISD high school campuses.

    All MISD students can now access digital device

    MISD's 1:1 technology initiative initially allowed all students to access digital devices such as an IPad or Chromebook during the school day. Now the program has expanded to allow every student have a device of their own.

    Number of AP Scholars doubles in five years

    The number of MISD students to earn AP Scholar designations jumped from 49 in 2019 to 127 this year! This is a testament to the hard work of our students and staff!

    Bus Route Coordinator receives statewide honor

    Midland ISD is proud to announce that Transportation Routing Coordinator Elisa Felix has been honored as the Operations Specialist of the Year by the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation (TAPT).

    Rising senior to participate in international space program

    LHS rising senior Brianna Ortiz is headed for Australia! Brianna is one of only five students nationwide to be selected to attend the International Science School this summer! She was accepted to the program after participating in the Higher Orbits program and a rigorous application process!

    LHS Life Skills teacher Kathleen Leeper has been named a finalist for H-E-B's Excellence in Education award for Leadership. The award comes with $1,000 for her and additional $1,000 for her campus.

    The academy hosts eight professional development sessions that are filled with problem-solving lessons. The academy isn't run by third-party consultants. The LLI team is leading the way by passing on their expertise as leaders to this class.

    Midland ISD has increased the daily rate of pay for substitute teachers. The raise comes as part of the recent update to the district's Compensation Manual, which was approved by the Board of Trustees at September's meeting.

  • Legacy Principal named Principal of the Year

    Legacy Senior High Principal Shannon Torres has been named Principal of the Year for 2022-23 by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals for Region 18. Secondary principals from across Region 18 selected Torres for the honor. Torres will now be eligible to compete for the state title of Texas Principal of the Year.

  • Latest data shows academic improvement district wide

    Midland ISD has earned a "B" grade from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) in the first complete ratings released since 2019. MISD's overall score of 80 is an improvement from the "C" grade of 75 last awarded and a milestone for the district.

  • STAAR results show student progress

    Preliminary results from Spring 2022 STAAR testing show positive growth for Midland ISD students. Testing was administered in grades 3-8 in the areas of reading, math, social studies and science.
