Early College High School focuses on a foundation of leadership tied to six pillars: honesty, kindness, responsibility, integrity, desire and respect. This foundation leads students to be successful and focused on
a rigorous academic program that leads to their high school diploma and Associates Degree (2 year degree). At the same time, students are provided a framework of support with tutoring and mentoring that builds success. We have very high standards for behavior, attendance and academic integrity. Students must be committed to working diligently to accelerate their learning with a focus on academic success. In addition to academics, Early College High School offers many opportunities for students to be leaders through clubs, community service, and elective courses which instill in students our motto of "Rising Above, Going Beyond, and Conquering All!"

Fine Arts Director receives state honor
MISD Fine Arts Director Deb Shaw was recently named Administrator of the Year at Texas Thespians State Festival! Ms. Shaw has overseen the growth and success of fine arts departments across the district in her 18+ years leading the department. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

4 MISD Seniors earn Commended Honors
Midland ISD is excited to recognize four exceptional students who have received recognition from the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. Amulya Ganta, Fiona Li, and Ryland Matis from Legacy High School, and Nnenne Nnanna from Early College High School at MC were each named Commended Students by this nationally-recognized academic program.

ECHS named among Best High Schools
Early College High School at Midland College has been recognized as one of the Best High Schools according to the U.S. News and World Report. The rankings show ECHS was ranked No. 141 this year out of more than two-thousand high schools across Texas.

All MISD students can now access digital device
MISD's 1:1 technology initiative initially allowed all students to access digital devices such as an IPad or Chromebook during the school day. Now the program has expanded to allow every student have a device of their own.

Number of AP Scholars doubles in five years
The number of MISD students to earn AP Scholar designations jumped from 49 in 2019 to 127 this year! This is a testament to the hard work of our students and staff!

Bus Route Coordinator receives statewide honor
Midland ISD is proud to announce that Transportation Routing Coordinator Elisa Felix has been honored as the Operations Specialist of the Year by the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation (TAPT).

MISD raises pay for substitute teachers
Midland ISD has increased the daily rate of pay for substitute teachers. The raise comes as part of the recent update to the district's Compensation Manual, which was approved by the Board of Trustees at September's meeting.

Early College High School at Midland College has been named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. This distinction places ECHS@MC among the best high schools in the nation and marks it as a model of effective school practices for state and district educators and other schools throughout the U.S.

Latest data shows academic improvement district wide
Midland ISD has earned a "B" grade from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) in the first complete ratings released since 2019. MISD's overall score of 80 is an improvement from the "C" grade of 75 last awarded and a milestone for the district.

MISD hires Emergency Management Coordinator
This new position will oversee all administrative aspects of student and campus safety, including crisis situations, natural disasters or any other emergencies that may arise.

STAAR results show student progress
Preliminary results from Spring 2022 STAAR testing show positive growth for Midland ISD students. Testing was administered in grades 3-8 in the areas of reading, math, social studies and science.

Midland ISD Closer to Cleaner Air on Campuses
Midland ISD is upgrading its heating, cooling and air purification systems. The district plans to begin replacing HVAC systems before the start of the next school year, thanks in large part to a federal grant.
