Meet the Principal

Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Brian Ellington

Dear Parents and Guardians,

My name is Brian Ellington.  This will be my third year as the Principal of Jane Long Elementary.

I am beginning my 29th year in education. I began teaching and coaching in Hobbs, NM in 1995.   I have served as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, director of social studies and a junior high principal prior to coming to Jane Long.  Most of my time was spent at Midland High School where I was an assistant basketball coach and U.S. Government teacher.

I have a Master's Degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.  I have lived in Midland for 24 years and consider this to be my home.  I have a son who is a senior in college and a daughter who is a junior in high school.

I am  thoroughly excited about beginning another year at Jane Long Elementary.   I look forward to strengthening our partnership to ensure all children are celebrated and supported. Together, we will ensure that we maintain our caring and nurturing climate that makes Jane Long such a special place.

I have devoted my career to educating, inspiring, and advocating for students, both as a classroom teacher, coach and an administrator. I will continue to bring my passion, enthusiasm and experience to cultivate the unique educational programs that Jane Long has to offer. Above all, I will continue to observe, listen, learn, and understand what makes Jane Long thrive.

I will continue to listen to your ideas and vision for our school and collaborate with each of you to support our sense of community here at Jane Long Elementary.  I will continue to strive to ensure that all families feel welcome and connected to our school family.

Please feel free to contact me by email at or by calling our school office at 432-240-7400. I welcome any questions or ideas you would like to share.

Proud to be a part of the Jane Long Elementary family!

Brian Ellington
