Meet The Counselor
Hi! My name is Suzanne Gerstner and I am the counselor at Milam. This is my fifth year as Milam's counselor. Before becoming a counselor, I taught for 13 years as a Family and Consumer Science teacher at the middle/junior high school level in New Mexico and Texas. As a teacher, I taught many of the topics I now perform as a counselor. I received my undergraduate diploma from Texas Tech in, believe it or not, Fashion Design. After having my four children, I decided education was where my heart belonged and went on to earn my teaching certification from the University of the Southwest in Hobbs, New Mexico. While teaching I developed a real love of wanting to help students and earned my Master's from Lamar University. I have been married for 34 years to my husband, Mike, and I have two grandchilden who I love to spend time with (though they live in Colorado Springs!) I love going to Texas Tech sporting events, traveling, time with my family (they live all over the place!), and I love being home with my dogs!! I greatly enjoy what I do and love the students at Milam!
