FAQs

1. How long does the insurance policy last? It lasts for a full calendar year. Example: if a parent purchases insurance August 1, 2024, then it will last all the way through July 31, 2025.
 

2. What types of insurance is available? There are three options this year: chromebook, iPad, and staff laptop. Parents need to choose either chromebook or iPad depending on the device their child has, and staff can choose the teacher laptop option to have insurance for their school-issued device.
 

3. Who files claims for insurance? Only MISD Technology personnel are allowed to file claims.
 

4. How do we start the process to file a claim? Email techhelp@midlandisd.net and state in the work order the barcode or serial number of the device, and that it has insurance.
 

5. How do I see which students have insurance? Email techhelp@midlandisd.net and one of our team members will send you an updated list of who has purchased policies.
 

6. How do I keep up with chromebooks/iPads who do or do not have insurance? Feel free to use the "Chromebook Work Order Form" attached to go with each device. There is a spot to signify whether it has insurance or not.
 

7. Do I charge students when they have purchased insurance? Do NOT charge any student if they have an insurance policy. We will file the claim and if for some reason the insurance will not cover the damage, we will notify you how much to charge the student.
