2023-2024 1:1 (One-to-one) Deployment FAQ
1:1 FAQ
- Q: How do I find the current prices or fees for broken chromebooks? A: All parts and prices can be found at www.midlandisd.net/chromebookprices
- Q: What do I do if my child’s device is broken?
A: The student needs to notify the teacher of the breakage. Either the librarian or the teacher will submit a work order to Technology.
The computer technician will either fix the device on the campus, or deliver it to the chromebook repair shop. Once the device is back, the librarian or teacher will give it back to the student. This process takes an average of 3 to 5 business days depending on demand.
The parent will be notified of any charges. The parent will either give the money to someone in the front office or pay online at https://midlandisd.revtrak.net
In the meantime, the campus may give the student a loaner device to use while the original device is being repaired.
- Q: Will my child be required to take the STAAR test using a school device? A: House Bill 3261 requires state assessments to be administered online by the 2022-2023 school year. This transition will require nearly all students to be assessed online, with the exceptions of students taking the STAAR Alternate 2 assessment and students who require accommodations that cannot be provided online. More information can be found at the following link.
- Q:What if I do not have internet access at my home? A: Parents are able to apply for the Affordable Connectivity Program to receive a discount of up to $30 per month for internet service for eligible households. Information can be found at the following link.
- Q: Would 1882 schools be included in sending devices home? A: All 1882 schools would NOT be required to participate. It will be at the discretion of the campus admin.
