2024-25 Welcome Letter

Dear MISD, 

I hope this message finds you rested and ready for the 2024-2025 school year.  I say this every year, but even though this will begin year 30 for me, I am excited!  There is something special about the start of the school year that brings a sense of focus, purpose, and excitement for the work we get to do every day. The first day of school always comes with excitement and eagerness to see what the new year will bring. Students arrive anxiously on campuses to meet their teachers and see their new classrooms. I am excited to see all the opportunities this new school year will bring our Midland ISD students, staff, and community. We are committed to making it a great year in Midland ISD. 

As we begin this new school year we are rolling into the second year of our Strategic Plan and will continue to keep it front and center. The three pillars within this plan are; Student Experience, Grow & Develop Staff, and Engage & Act. Our Strategic Plan has served as a comprehensive roadmap that holds us accountable for improving the academic success of our students, school, and staff. We have 28 initiatives in the Strategic Plan, success metrics to monitor the effectiveness of each project, and we are proud to share that work with you as we prepare for an outstanding 2024-2025 school year in Midland ISD!  Every role matters and contributes to the success of our students. We are one team with a vision to Educate the Future with Excellence. We are Team MISD! 

We all have the opportunity to shape the future, significantly impact students’ futures, and make this a great year for our students. Future educators, doctors, lawyers, engineers, technical experts, and leaders are Made in MISD. I encourage you to follow us on your favorite social media sites to keep up to date on all things MISD related. We are always proud to highlight all the celebrations and great things happening on our campuses and in MISD. 

Once again, welcome back! Let’s make this a great year for every student, staff member, and our community. I am proud to be your superintendent, and I look forward to this school year!
