New Employee Orientation

Welcome to the upcoming school year! Below are the essential details for your required orientation sessions.

Who Attends When?

Day 1 (August 4th)

Required for ALL new employees. Everyone will meet to kick off the year, complete district onboarding, and learn about MISD resources.

Day 2 (August 5th)

Required for instructional staff only. This includes teachers, aides, paras, and associate teachers. You will return for critical curriculum updates and instructional training.

Explore your professional growth path for the year. Our interactive catalog hub provides complete transparency and tools to guide your learning journey.

Through the Professional Learning hub, you can:

Browse professional development offerings by month
Submit feedback on sessions you have attended
Submit proposals for new sessions you would like to offer
Review overall professional learning (PL) structures
Access the official District Professional Learning Plan approved by the School Board

WHAT IS TALENT DEVELOPMENT?

Talent development is the organizational process of helping staff for career advancement in a way that aligns with the district’s mission. This includes identifying staff’s aptitude and goals and helping them develop the knowledge and skills they need to achieve those goals and fill the needs of the district. Talent development program activities can range from mentoring and coaching to formal training, leadership development, succession planning, on-the-job learning and more.
