Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- 21+ to substitute at secondary campuses (JH, Freshman, HS)
- High school diploma or GED
- Pass a criminal background check
- Complete an online application (with references)
- Complete MISD substitute orientation
How to Become a Substitute
- Submit the online application
- Upload a copy of your high school diploma or GED
- Provide proof of right to work in the U.S. (e.g., SS card, passport, driver’s license, or permanent resident card)
- Complete new hire paperwork
- Pass the background check
- Attend MISD Substitute Orientation
Returning Substitutes: If you worked in 2024–2025 and signed your Letter of Reasonable Assurance by May 30, 2025, watch for emails about your annual substitute orientation.
