2025–2026 Stipends & Other Supplemental Pay
Important Notice
When an exempt employee is assigned an additional duty at will, the supplemental duty is not part of a contract nor is the associated pay. A stipend is compensation in addition to the regular salary. The start and end dates for supplemental duties may differ from contract dates. Stipends include payment for all duties, responsibilities, and time the supplemental duties may require. A stipend associated with a particular duty will be prorated if incomplete or terminated for any reason.
Supplemental duties are at-will and not part of the employment contract. Employees may resign one or more supplemental duties at any time; the district may reassign or terminate them at any time. To qualify, a Stipend Acknowledgement Form must be completed and signed by HR and the employee. The stipend will be paid based on qualification and approval.
Stipends are located in the 2025–2026 Compensation Manual on pages 34–46.
Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about pay increases, stipends, and credentials below.
1. Will I receive a pay increase this year?
The Board of Trustees determines and approves a percentage pay increase each year for returning staff. On June 10, 2025, administration recommended the 2025–2026 Compensation Manual to the School Board. In a legislative year, timing aligns to state decisions to ensure compliance (e.g., HB2 updates).
HB2 Teacher Raises
- $2,500 raise for teachers with 3–4 years of experience (steps 3–4 in 2025–2026).
- $5,000 raise for teachers with 5+ years of experience (step ≥5 in 2025–2026).
Notes: Applies to teachers of record (as defined in statute). Not applicable to associate teachers, residents, aides, librarians, library media specialists, other specialists, or employees on a teacher pay plan not currently in a teaching role. Employees paid on a teacher scale but not in a teaching role were moved to the Administrative/Professional Scale; salaries remain the same and any remaining eligible stipends from 2024–2025 were rolled into base pay.
Additional Compensation Recommendations
- 2% of midpoint GPI for Instructional Support, Auxiliary, Technology, Clerical, Child Nutrition Services, Police.
- 1% of midpoint GPI for Administrative/Professional.
Even while operating within a Board-approved deficit, these increases support competitiveness and acknowledge workload shifts as staffing is right-sized. Questions? hr@midlandisd.net.
2. How do employees calculate their midpoint pay increase?
Find your pay grade’s midpoint, then multiply by the approved GPI (e.g., 1% or 2%). Add that dollar amount to your current annualized salary.
Example: Admin/Professional Pay Grade 1 at 226 days has a midpoint of $77,608.40. A 1% GPI equals $776.08 (77,608.40 × 0.01). Add $776.08 to the employee’s current annualized salary.
Note: Teacher and other pay plans are New-Hire Placement schedules. A current MISD teacher moving to step 31 receives the increase; a new hire placed on step 31 is capped at step 30 on entry.
3. Where is the compensation manual published?
The current manual is posted on the district website: www.midlandisd.net (see links above under Current & Past Manuals).
4. How do I view my pay information and paychecks?
Log in to the Skyward Business → Employee Access portal to view/print your pay stubs.
5. How do I update my credentials (e.g., Master’s degree or certifications)?
Email documentation showing the new credential to hr@midlandisd.net. HR will review and update your record; eligible credential stipends or pay adjustments will be applied per the manual.
6. What’s changing with Perfect Attendance?
- Perfect Attendance (teachers, DOI, associate teachers, and teacher assistants): paid once per semester; must have zero absences in the semester.
MISD is prioritizing recurring pay increases (TRS-eligible) over one-time incentives to better support retirement earnings.
7. How are teachers with 30+ years of experience placed?
New hires to MISD are capped at step 30 on the Teacher Salary Schedule. Current MISD teachers with more than 30 years will receive the Board-approved GPI increase.
