Thank you for your service to Midland ISD. This page outlines how to submit your resignation or retirement and the steps to ensure a smooth transition.

How to Submit

  1. Complete the Notice of Resignation or Retirement using the online form below.
  2. Notify your direct supervisor of your decision and your official last day of work.
  3. Watch for a confirmation email from Human Resources after your submission is processed.

Notice Requirements

  • Contract Employees: Submit written notice at least 45 days before the first day of instruction for the following school year (per Board policy and Texas Education Code).
  • Non-Contract Employees: Please provide at least two weeks’ notice when possible.

Exit Process

To ensure a smooth offboarding experience, please complete the following before your last day:

  • Return all district property (ID badge, keys, laptop, and any other assigned materials) to your supervisor.
  • Save or transfer any personal files from district devices; system access ends at 11:59 p.m. on your final workday.
  • Contact Payroll with questions about your final paycheck or remaining supplemental pay.
  • Contact Benefits for health insurance termination dates or COBRA continuation options.
  • Complete the Employee Exit Survey to share feedback and help us improve the employee experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How much notice do I need to give?

Contract employees: at least 45 days before the first day of instruction for the following school year (per Board policy and Texas Education Code).

Non-contract employees: please provide at least two weeks’ notice when possible.

2. Can I rescind a resignation?

Requests to rescind may be considered before the effective date and require supervisor and HR approval. Approval is not guaranteed, especially if staffing decisions have already been made.

3. When will I receive my final paycheck?

Final pay is issued on the next scheduled payroll after all time/work records are processed. For specific dates or summer accrual questions, contact Payroll.

4. What happens to my benefits when I leave?

Health coverage typically ends at the end of the month of your separation. You may be eligible for COBRA continuation. Please contact Benefits for exact dates and options.

5. Do I get paid for unused leave?

Payouts for unused leave vary by Board policy and employment category. Generally, state/local leave is not paid out, but there may be exceptions. Please review district policy or contact Payroll/HR.

6. How do I request service records or employment verification?

Submit a request for service records or transcripts using our online form:
