G/T Information for "New to MISD Attendance Area" Students

New to Midland Area and NOT a GT Transfer 

Students who have moved to the MISD area after October 31 and before July 31 are eligible to be tested for entry into G/T services in the fall semester. The G/T office will review the documentation listed below and arrange testing with the parent/guardian(s) if the child is eligible.

Only G/T transfer students will be tested after July 31 for immediate entry into GT Services. Families moving after July 31 will need to apply during the October 1 - 31 general referral window.

Parent/Guardian(s) must provide the following documents or a contact from the transferring district who can provide them:

  • Most recent report card from previous school

  • Copies of test scores from nationally normed standardized tests that were administered at school. 

  • Test scores from state accountability tests.

  • Proof of Residence

  • Elementary services (grades 1-6) are provided at Carver Center or through GEM 2.0. 

  • Secondary services are available at each secondary campus (grades 7-12).
