Pre-K Instructional Framework
Midland ISD’s Pre-K Program Vision
The MISD Pre-K program offers a purposeful, play-based learning experience where children build essential social skills and strong academic foundations through hands-on, engaging activities. Aligned with the Texas Pre-K Guidelines, our program supports development across all learning domains—including social-emotional growth, language and communication, emergent literacy (reading and writing), math, science, social studies, fine arts, physical development, and technology.
Our vision is to create inclusive, nurturing classroom environments that foster curiosity, creativity, and independence. Through intentional instruction, developmentally appropriate practices, and meaningful teacher-child interactions, MISD Pre-K ensures that every child is equipped with the tools to thrive in kindergarten and beyond. We believe in cultivating confident, capable learners by building strong relationships, honoring individual needs, and partnering with families to support lifelong success.
Midland ISD’s Pre-K Program Beliefs
We believe in Whole Child Development
We are committed to nurturing every aspect of a child’s growth—academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. We recognize that young children thrive when their individual needs are met in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.
We believe Play is Powerful
Play is not separate from learning—it is how young children learn best. Through purposeful, structured, and imaginative play, children develop critical thinking skills, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities that prepare them for lifelong success.
We Believe in High-Quality, Developmentally Appropriate Instruction
Our instruction is rooted in the Texas Pre-K Guidelines and driven by research-based practices that reflect how young children learn. We intentionally design experiences that are age-appropriate, engaging, and aligned to learning outcomes to build strong academic foundations.
We Believe Families are Essential Partners
We value and encourage strong partnerships with families, recognizing that caregivers are a child’s first and most important teachers. Ongoing communication, collaboration, and family engagement are vital to supporting a child’s educational journey.
