  • Students may be placed in an unpaid practicum learning experience if the student is unemployed for more than 15 consecutive school days.
  • Practicums are directly aligned to the student's program of study.
  • Many internships may qualify under paid or unpaid practicum coursework.

INTERNSHIPS

Midland ISD CTE collaborates with businesses and organizations to provide students aged 16 and older with valuable work experience through high school internships. These positions encompass a wide range of career opportunities, offering excellent learning opportunities for both students and partnering businesses. Depending on the student's program and the nature of the internship, positions may be paid or unpaid. Both paid and unpaid internships contribute to students' educational experience and career readiness. Use this link to find out more.

MISD work, internships, and enrichment

Work-based Learning (WBL) provides students with opportunities to learn technical, academic, and employability skills by working in a real work environment. WBL prepares students for their future careers and is a part of a high-quality CTE program.

Qualified students perform work-based training experiences through coordinated classroom courses of study in practicums. In WBL, the company and school are responsible for providing the student with opportunities for training in the basic skills of occupation and knowledge of related technical information. In order to provide a systematic plan for well-rounded training, a schedule of work-based training experiences and a parallel classroom course of study have been coordinated by the training sponsor and CTE teacher.

Students interested in pursuing work-based learning experiences should talk to their high school counselor or CTE teacher.
