The Midland College Automotive Technology Program of Study provides the skills you need to jump-start your automotive career. The program reflects a building-block approach from simple to complex skills, covering: Operational theory, Diagnosis, Repair, Maintenance, Practical skills, accepted shop procedures, Different models of cars including late-model vehicles with electronic systems.
The Midland College Automotive Collision & Repair curriculum is designed to prepare students for successful completion of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) national certification. Safety practices and training are an important part of the program. Communication, leadership, and teamwork concepts are fundamental to the hands-on laboratory assignments which are incorporated. Specific areas of training include suspension and steering, electrical systems, structural estimating, basic to advanced refinishing, and basic to advanced paint techniques. STUDENT VIDEO

From the small diesel engines used for portable generators to gigantic diesel power plants driving ocean-going freighters, diesel engines are a central part of the world’s transport and industrial infrastructure. For this reason, a career as a diesel mechanic is an extremely attractive option for individuals seeking a well-compensated and dependable source of employment. Secondary dual credit students who have been enrolled in the Midland College Diesel Technology program for two consecutive academic years and who successfully complete the required courses will receive an Occupational Skills Award.
