Industry Based Certifications
An industry-based certification (IBC) is a credential that validates that an individual possesses certain industry-specific skills related to a career cluster or occupation and is measured against a set of accepted industry standards.
IBCs must be:
- Defined as a Certification
- Attainable by a High School Student
- Issued by a Certifying Entity
- Industry-Recognized and Valued
- Portable
- a Capstone or End-of-Program Certification
Industry-Based Certifications (IBC) can be earned through standard and dual credit CTE Programs of Study. IBCs are aligned with postsecondary opportunities which showcase the competencies and skills that students have acquired through their chosen programs of study.
