PIE Grant 

Partners in Education (PIE) Grants are for MISD campus administrators and district personnel who are impacting education and seeking financial assistance to resources outside of the district or campus budget.  This program was designed to enhance the workplace culture, improve staff retention, and boost morale among the dedicated employees shaping the education of MISD students.

The Campus Marquee Sponsorship project offers businesses and community partners the opportunity to make a lasting impact by funding the installation or upgrade of digital marquees at Midland ISD campuses. These marquees serve as essential communication tools, keeping students, parents, and staff informed about important school events, achievements, and announcements.

Your businesses can help create safe, engaging play spaces for elementary students.  We are currently working to upgrade playgrounds with new equipment, shade structures, and accessibility features that promote active, healthy lifestyles. Campus Book Machine 

Your company can help enhance literacy on a campus with the purchase of a book vending machine. Book vending machines help students get excited about reading and most campuses utilize the novelty of the book vending machine and it's educational benefits to reward good behavior for students. Vending machines can be customized to provide grade-level appropriate reading books ensuring all ages benefit.

Education and Training Career and Technical Education (CTE) Pathway

The Education and Training program of study prepares students for careers in public education or training and support services. For Midland ISD the Education and Training Program is the first opportunity for the district to begin our Grow Your Own initiatives. Research shows that over 60% of teachers teach within a 20-mile radius of the high from which they graduated. We know we have to recruit locally to help fill our teaching vacancies.

Future Educator Signing Event

When students complete the Education and Training CTE Pathway, we have an event to invite students to be future Midland ISD educators.   We offer them a letter of intent to hire after completing their Bachelor’s degree in teaching. Students need to know that the district is interested in hiring them as future teachers. As teacher candidates are becoming increasingly harder to staff, a letter of intent helps us recruit local talent.

Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP)

This is a program to recruit anyone interested in the teaching profession who has had barriers to completing their degree. The Registered Apprentice Program allows an apprentice to earn and learn simultaneously. Candidates are hired as full-time educators in a paraprofessional-type role. During this time, candidates attend professional learning, receive ongoing coaching and mentoring from a lead teacher, and attend a college or university to earn their teaching degree.

Teacher Residency

Teacher Residents are a recruitment strategy that allows us to hire a new teacher with quality preparation which makes the teacher more effective compared to other first-year teachers. Partnership with the University of Texas Permian Basin in which senior education students are placed in a Midland ISD classroom with a highly effective teacher. The student completes a paid year-long residency. Upon graduation, Midland ISD recruits them to sign on as a first-year teacher.

Mentor Program

Teachers with less than 2 years of experience require a mentor. Mentors provide ongoing support to new teachers to help with growth and retention. Midland ISDs Mentor Program is aligned to research-based mentoring best practices with the primary goal of increasing student outcomes through increased beginning teacher retention and effectiveness.

MISD Convocation

The Midland ISD Convocation is a high-energy, district-wide event that brings together over 3,500 MISD employees to kick off the school year with inspiration and excitement. This is the one time per year all MISD staff come together for one event. Sponsoring this event allows your company to show its appreciation for the school district by celebrating every role from transportation, custodial, teacher, support staff, and administrators, while also gaining visibility among MISD’s dedicated professionals.
