• About Your Counselor - Mr Chavez

    THE BEST PART of a person's life is not fame, wealth or ability. The best part of a good person's life is the little acts of kindness and love given to others. You are remembered and respected for the good you do for others.
    Mr. Chavez has been the counselor at Sam Houston since the fall of 2010.  He has been a counselor with MISD since 2005.  Mr. Chavez was a 6th grade teacher for eight years and then taught 4th grade for one year at Travis Elementary in Midland, Texas.  
     
    Mr. Chavez received an Associate Degree from the Hispanic Baptist Theological Seminary in San Antonio, a Bachelor's Degree from Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas, and a Masters Degree from Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas.
     
    Mr. Chavez has been married to his beautiful wife, Alma, for the past 27 years. They have two dogs they love very much, Jolie their poodle and Max their German Shepherd.  Mr. and Mrs. Chavez love to travel and have been to about 21 countries and 17 states.  They hope to one day go through the Panama Canal and visit Australia.
     
    Mr. Chavez was born in Chimaltenango, Guatemala, Central America and moved with his mom and dad to the United States in 1966.  He attended DeZavala Elementary and San Jacinto Junior High in Midland before moving to Dumas, Texas and graduating from Dumas High School in 1981.
