Social Studies

  • History, civics, geography, and economics: these are the academic disciplines that draw together everything students learn in reading, math, science, athletics, and fine arts and use that knowledge and those skills to help them discover their place in the world. Through our social studies courses, Midland ISD strives to foster curiosity about the world we inhabit while giving students the skills they will need to thrive, no matter what college, career, or military service paths they pursue when they graduate from our schools.

Our Social Studies courses are based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, utilizing quality teaching materials that bring the past and the present to life while fostering critical thinking in our students. Course offerings are listed below. (High School Elective and AP course options may vary by campus.)
