TEC, §28.006(b, b-1) requires the Texas commissioner of education to adopt a multidimensional assessment tool that includes a reading instrument and tests at least three developmental skills, including literacy, to diagnose the reading development and comprehension of kindergarten, first and second-grade level students.  Midland ISD has selected mCLASS Texas Edition (Amplify) as the approved reading instrument to meet this requirement. In addition to English assessments, mCLASS provides screening and diagnostic assessments for Spanish literacy.
