• Current Secondary (6-11) G/T Referral and Screening Information

    for entry into subject-specific GT courses in JH & HS

    The nomination period will be October 1 - October 31. No late applications will be accepted. This nomination period includes current MISD students, Midland area private schools, and homeschool students.

    Students in grade 6 are tested for enrollment in all 4 core content areas:  English, math, science, and social studies.  Parents in grades 7-11 are able to choose which subjects they would like their child to be tested in. English, math, science, and social studies are the choices. Please know that students must meet the prerequisites for math before being tested. 

    Secondary GT Parent Awareness Sessions:

    Wednesday, October 4 5:30 p.m. - Midland College ATC (3200 W. Cuthbert)

    Thursday, October 12 5:30 p.m. - Midland College ATC (3200 W. Cuthbert)

    These are not required but are helpful to learn more about the application and screening process. 

    Testing will begin in November and end by January 19. Students will be pulled from class multiple times for testing on different days. Results will be sent out by mid-February through email. The GT Testing calendar can be found here and will be updated throughout the year. Specific class groups and times will not be announced. Your student will be tested on the days the campus is listed on the calendar. Makeups will be scheduled as needed.

    Note: All MISD 6th grade students will be assessed using a universal screener in September.

    NOTE: Midland area residents with  students that do not attend an MISD school will only be able to nominate during the October 1 - 31 nomination period. No other testing opportunities will be provided in spring or summer. This applies to all private school and homeschool students.
