The Welding program of study focuses on the development and use of automatic and computer-controlled machines, tools, and robots that perform work on metal or plastic. CTE learners will learn how to modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain individual machines, and how to use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment. The College & Careeer Academy Welding program  focuses on the development and use of automatic and computer-controlled machines, tools, and robots that perform work on metal or plastic. CTE learners will learn how to modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain individual machines, and how to use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment. Midland College curriculum is designed to develop skills, attitudes, and competencies in welding processes including oxy-fuel welding and cutting, gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, and shielded metal arc welding. In addition, students will receive training in welding safety, blueprint reading, and layout and fabrication. Dual credit courses will begin the Spring semester of their 10th grade year.
