Students may earn one or more endorsements as part of their high school diploma. An endorsement consists of a sequence of courses that are grouped together by interest or occupational skill. They provide students with in-depth knowledge of a subject area or a high-wage, high-skill, and in-demand occupation. Every career and technical education (CTE) Program of Study leads to an endorsement.
A Career Cluster is a grouping of occupations and broad industries based on commonalities. The 14 Texasl Career Clusters provide an organizing framework for Programs of Study, a recommended sequence of coursework for college and career preparation based on a students interest or career goal. By clicking on the cluster icons you can view the TEA Programs of Study for each. While Midland ISD does not offer all TEA programs of study. we do offer program of study options from each career cluster. Our program of study offerings will expand with the growth of Career and Technical Education at Midland ISD.
A program of study is a Career Cluster specific coherent sequences of courses that lead to an endorsement. It’s similar to a college degree, allowing the student to learn more about a particular subject area. They include opportunities for industry-based certifications, and student organization involvement, and work-based learning. In addition, the Midland ISD Career Academies are programs of study that incorporate dual credit tracks that lead to certifications.
