• STAAR High School End of Course (EOC) Overview

The STAAR End-of Course (EOC) assessments will test a high school student’s mastery of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for a given course, and determine college and career readiness. If a student is enrolled in grade 8 or below and is taking a course for which there is a STAAR EOC assessment, that student will be required to take the applicable STAAR EOC assessment.

    The following subjects have EOCs:

    English I
    English II
    Biology
    Algebra I
    US History

    Individual Graduation Committees (IGCs)

Senate Bill 149 has revised the state’s assessment graduation requirements for students enrolled in the 11th or 12th grade for the 2014-2015, 2015-2016, or 2016-2017 school years. A student who has failed the EOC assessment graduation requirements for no more than two courses may receive a Texas high school diploma if the student has qualified to graduate by means of an individual graduation committee (IGC) determination.
