    Student Expectations and Conduct

In addition to the rules of the Midland Independent School District and Midland Senior High School, each student is expected to follow the guidelines outlines in the Midland Senior High School Cadet Handbook -- specifically Chapter Two.

On-time class attendance is required for each cadet. Students late to class three times or more will be assigned school detention.  Failure to meet that detention will result in a referral to the grade level principal and possible dismissal from the AFJROTC program.

Cadets are required to come to class with all course materials, paper, and something to write with.

No food, drink, or gum is permitted in the AFJROTC classroom except during scheduled events.

    Evaluation

The final grade in these courses will be based on the student's performance in the following areas:

Academic exams, quizzes, and worksheets -- 30%
         Uniform inspections -- 30%
         Drill Evaluations/Physical Training -- 20%
         Deportment and Discipline -- 20%

    Uniform Inspections

Wear of the AFJROTC Cadet Uniform is MANDATORY once a week to all classes.  Improper or disrespectful wear of the uniform and/or not wearing the uniform to ALL classes on uniform wear day will result in an inspection score of zero.  Guidelines for the wear of the uniform can be found in the Midland Senior High School Cadet Handbook.

Weekly uniform inspection will be conducted with a possible of 100 points for each inspection.  The inspections will be conducted using the standards listed in AFI 36-2903 and AFROTCI 36-2001.  These standards are listed in the Middle High School Cadet Handbook.  The Cadet Inspection Checklist will be annotated with any discrepancies discovered during the inspection.

Once each six week grading period, cadets are required to attend a formal Reveille Ceremony which is held at the flag pole in front of the Midland High School.  Attendance at the ceremony will count for 25% of the weekly uniform inspection.

Cadets are expected to be in uniform the first day back to class if they missed a required uniform day with an excused absence.  Unexcused absences on a uniform day will result in a grade of zero.

    Homework/Make-up Policy

Course work is to be turned in on the day it is due.

Late work will only be accepted with an excused absence.  If work was due during a cadet's absence then the work will be due/exam taken on the day the student returns to class.

It is the student's responsibility to find out what work was missed due to class absence and be prepared to turn in the work or take the exam on the first back. The cadet may obtain assignments from the SASI/ASI, Flight Commander, Class Leader, or fellow cadets.
