At Midland Senior High, we are committed to ensuring all students are college, career, and life ready. We offer a variety of courses including on-level and AP core curriculum, dual-credit and career-prep courses. Our students enjoy many extracurricular and athletic opportunities to round out their Midland Senior High experience. Through athletics, visual and performing arts, career, technology and agricultural programs, our students can showcase their talents to the community in various creative ways.

  • MISD Only District in State with 2 Schools at State Robotics Competition

    MISD was the only district in Texas to have TWO SCHOOLS represented at last week's UIL 6A Robotics State Competition! The Junkyard Dawgs from MHS took home 6th place overall! Great job students and teachers!

    The Go For Launch student team from Midland High School is anxiously awaiting the launch of their experiment into space. Their experiment was selected to be launched into space on the SpaceX-30 and be tested at the International Space Station.

    Midland High School's theatre program has another star in the making. Junior Madison Coleman was recently awarded the Texas Theatre Scholar Award by the Texas Thespians for the 2023-24 school year.

    Fine Arts Director receives state honor

    MISD Fine Arts Director Deb Shaw was recently named Administrator of the Year at Texas Thespians State Festival! Ms. Shaw has overseen the growth and success of fine arts departments across the district in her 18+ years leading the department. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

    JROTC adds high-end flight simulator to arsenal

    Midland ISD's Air Force Junior ROTC program has purchased a state-of-the-art flight simulator after winning a $10,000 grant from the Midland Education Foundation. This simulator will be used as a part of aerospace science STEM courses currently offered to more than 120 JROTC students across four MISD high school campuses.

    Homecoming season brings with it a longtime tradition in Texas high schools: mums. And with Howdy Week in full swing at Midland High School, so is the creation of mums in Shawna Braden’s Floral Design class.

    All MISD students can now access digital device

    MISD's 1:1 technology initiative initially allowed all students to access digital devices such as an IPad or Chromebook during the school day. Now the program has expanded to allow every student have a device of their own.

    Number of AP Scholars doubles in five years

    The number of MISD students to earn AP Scholar designations jumped from 49 in 2019 to 127 this year! This is a testament to the hard work of our students and staff!

    Bus Route Coordinator receives statewide honor

    Midland ISD is proud to announce that Transportation Routing Coordinator Elisa Felix has been honored as the Operations Specialist of the Year by the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation (TAPT).

  • Midland woman returns to MHS to graduate at age 61

    Teresa Ramirez dropped out of MHS back in 1980 - right before she was supposed to graduate. She decided 2023 was the time to come back to school so that she could graduate with her grandson.

    Midland ISD has increased the daily rate of pay for substitute teachers. The raise comes as part of the recent update to the district's Compensation Manual, which was approved by the Board of Trustees at September's meeting.
