    This Thursday evening, the Lee High School Orchestra will end our season with our spring concert, "Musical Memories" honoring the senior class of 2019.  You will hear 2 major concerto winners from the Lee High Orchestra, Paige Martin and Marin Bullock dazzle the audience with Barber and Bruch.  From Sleeping Beauty Waltz to Rossini's Barber of Seville (with Bugs bunny cartoon), It will take you back to your childhood!  Admission is free for all.  Concert starts at 6:45 in the Lee Auditorium.  Come and enjoy!

    Anyone interested in being a Senior Class Officer should come by room 456 to pick up an application. Applications are due by Thursday, May 16th and voting is this Friday, May 17th.

    Seniors:

    Don't forget to log in to the Lee Counselor's Senior Information for the Senior Exit Survey. All seniors must do one.  All scholarship information needs to be on the survey, if you want it printed on the graduation program.  If you received more than 4, please come see Counselor's Clerk, Mrs. Rodriguez for a paper form. Deadline is today or no later Than Wednesday, May 15th.

    This past Saturday the Lee High School Honor Band participating in the UIL Wind Ensemble Festival at the University of Texas in Austin.  The band was awarded a "Distinguished Performance" Award for their program!

     

    The following students were awarded gold medals and recognized as "Outstanding Soloist" at the state festival!  Junior Luke Rodriguez on Horn, Senior Laura Wilson on Oboe, Sophomore Cole Pool on Bassoon, Sophomore Marcus Marques on Trumpet, and Junior Zoe McCright on Trumpet!  Congratulations to the Lee High School Honor Band and the outstanding soloists!

    Any guys interested in being in Cross Country next year will have a meeting next Wednesday, May 22nd at 5:45 p.m. in the Youth Center. This is for all new or returning members of Boys Cross Country.

    Chess Club will hold its final school-wide tournament today after school in room 416. The winner gets bragging rights all summer long. Several people have been going on about how they've got game, but never show up to be challenged. So here's your chance to prove to the world that you're all that. Did I mention that this tournament is open to faculty, administration, and staff? Come out and play, spectate, or cheer us on.

    A huge congrats to Rebecca Reed on her 10th place finish yesterday at the region 1 golf tournament.  Her finish got her onto the all-region team. This also was her fourth straight year to compete in the regional tournament. A big accomplishment!!!!

    Midland College at the Cogdell Learning Center is offering assistance with filling out the FAFSA this Saturday April 27th from 9:00 to 11:00.  This is a free service.  Students are also invited to the UTPB Falcon Day this Saturday, April 27.  Attendance is free but you have to reserve your spot.  Go to the UTPB website to register.  The deadline is Wednesday April 24.

    Tryouts for the Dixie dolls drill team start today! Mandatory parent and candidate meeting in the Lee High Youth Center at 5:30. All paperwork is due at this meeting. You must have an updated physical turned in before participating. See you this afternoon!

     

    Samurai Robotics traveled to Houston for the World’s Robot Championship and placed 39 in their division. The championship had 160 teams from 10 different countries and 24 different states.  Great job Samurai

    Students, just a reminder make-up hours begin today.  Students need to report to the cafeteria right after school.  The doors will be locked at approximately 4:25.

    Samurai Robotics competed Saturday in Austin for the UIL 5A-6A State Robotics Championship and place 2nd out of the 32 best robots in Texas. They are the Runner up 5A -6A State Champions and their robot was selected as the Best Robot in Texas.  Team members: Douglas Doerfer, Slade Ebenstein, Garrett Fincher were the drivers, the rest of the team are Christian Martinez, Kayla Sanchez, Cristian Valeriano, Lauren Mata, Lane Tang, Kaylee Farr.  Next is World’s in Houston on April 16th, there will be 128 teams from 70 different countries.

    The Lee High School Chess Team will travel to Goddard tomorrow (Wednesday) to play them. We need a head count as to who will be going. Please sign up in room 416 as soon as possible. Then on Wednesday, come as soon as possible after 4:15 so we can be there by 4:30. Plan on staying about an hour and a half.

    Congratulations to our latest chess tournament champions! 3rd Place is Josh Westberg, 2nd Place is Camille Pegues, and 1st place is Lewis Guess.  Our tournaments are every last Wednesday of the month, and we are preparing for regional tournaments in late April.

    This week the Lee High School Orchestras performed in our annual UIL concert and Sight-reading competition evaluation.  This year, I am proud to say that our students represented Lee Hs very well this week.

    Our freshman orchestra received an excellent rating on the stage and a 1 in Sight-reading

    StrictLEE Strings received a Sweepstakes (1 & 1) this year marking the 28th consecutive year of Sweepstakes

    Lee Symphony received a Sweepstakes (1 & 1) making this the 40th sweepstakes for the Symphony

    Congratulations to the Lady Rebel golf team on their second place finish at the Ector County Invitational.  Rebecca Reed was low medalist. Other members were; Laura Werner, Rachel Hulder, Kristyn Anderson, and Victoria Lins.  Also, congratulations to the Rebel boy’s golf team on their third place finish at the Andrews Invitational. Members were; Cameron Lopez, Paul Gomez, Jackson Comer, Harrison Kessler, and Dylan Bowerman.
